Building Homes: Making big dreams come true
BUILDING HOMES
This programme has made the dreams of several families come true, who were living in precarious conditions in rural and urban areas of Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Ecuador. Now they have decent homes, fully equipped with everything they need.
ACTIVITIES
Through partnerships with public and private entities and organisations, as well as donations from individuals and private companies, the Foundation provides fully equipped homes with furniture, appliances, and other essentials to families living in vulnerable conditions in rural and urban areas.
After a social and feasibility study, nominated families go through an evaluation process that considers multiple factors. A final decision of eligibility is made, and the reconstruction and furnishing of their homes begin. The construction of homes depends on the availability of resources allocated by the Foundation for this programme.
To date, several families across different locations in Colombia have been benefited, including cities such as Quibdó, Chocó; Neiva and Pitalito, Huila; Apartadó in Urabá Antioqueño; Florencia, Caquetá; Buenaventura, Valle del Cauca; San Andrés Islands; Mercaderes, Cauca; Pereira, Risaralda; and the municipalities of Sogamoso, Duitama, Sotaquirá, Villa de Leyva, Sáchica, Nuevo Colón, and Turmequé in Boyacá.
Thanks to the “Pro-Ecuador” campaign, four homes were delivered in the cities of Guayaquil, Manta, and Quito, benefiting families affected by the earthquake that significantly impacted those cities.
LIVING CONDITIONS FOR NOMINATED FAMILIES
The Building Homes programme has benefited several families thanks to the support of various partners, including private companies and individuals who have contributed through donations and the provision of fully furnished homes. Additionally, volunteers play a key role in supporting these efforts in each region. In this way, the International Maria Luisa de Moreno Foundation has established itself as a facilitator of collaborative efforts, with the primary purpose of helping those in greatest need.
