Building Schools: to sow the seed of good in human beings
BUILDING SCHOOLS
This is a programme through which the Foundation constructs, adapts, and equips public educational institutions in the most remote and vulnerable areas, where diverse communities reside, including minorities and indigenous ethnic groups, mostly located in marginalised and forgotten rural areas, whose inhabitants live in vulnerable conditions.
ACHIEVED GOALS
Over recent years of social intervention aimed at improving educational spaces, the following achievements have been reached:
- Six schools have been built, and improvements have been made to three other educational institutions in rural areas of Colombia, raising the quality of life for the benefiting communities.
- Development of experiential meetings that promote values and virtues with a focus on human growth, as well as the strengthening of competencies and skills in individuals.
- Coordination with local entities to benefit the student population.
- Facilitation of involvement and teamwork with the benefiting communities to strengthen self-management.
- Improvement of the school environment through maintenance works on school infrastructure and the provision of necessary equipment for each space.
- Construction and equipping of the first school, a highly recognised infrastructure project at the departmental level.
Aid Delivered
The Building Schools programme has benefited different educational institutions with the support of various allies such as companies, individuals, municipal administrations, and educational communities. In this way, the International María Luisa de Moreno Foundation is consolidated as an institution that articulates efforts.
In accordance with the above, the construction and equipping of school infrastructures have been carried out in compliance with applicable Colombian regulations, including NTC 4595 and 4596, and others used by the Ministry of National Education for the design of school facilities and environments.
Constructed Schools
More than just physical infrastructure, communities receive human development projects for community empowerment around dignified and inclusive educational spaces.
Through the Foundation’s efforts since 2008, six schools have been built, and improvements have been made to three others. As a result, students’ and families’ quality of life has improved, significantly strengthening their relationship with their environment.
