During the month of March and April 2017, the Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation helped 16 women, 6 men and 1 senior citizen file their income taxes, a total of 24 tax returns were done. The tax clinic’s main objective was to aid people who need help in preparing and filing their income tax returns for the year 2016. The tax clinic is meant for people who are not able to file their own tax returns or are not able to seek professional help due to their modest income and due to their simple fiscal situation.
In the month of February the Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation provided adult diapers and sanitary pads to people living in the greater Montreal area, who do no have the necessary financial means to buy them and taking into consideration that the cost of diapers and sanitary pads can range from $500 to $700 a month. The drive was done with the help of the MLMIF volunteers, who donated their time, gas, and their desire to help out people in need.
The Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation On January 14th, 2017 held a Food Drive were 80 families were helped. This event took place in the Montreal office of the Foundation, where free coffee and snacks were provided while people received their food baskets. In addition, 20 volunteers helped us in organizing and distributing the food baskets given out that day.
The Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation – Canada, is providing a workshop in legal advice in Montreal where 15 people have benefited from this help. This workshop has been offered since August of 2016 with the help of 2 lawyers who have more than 15 years expertise and specialize in immigration. The services provided consist in helping and advising in immigration proceedings, work laws, and judicial laws here in Canada. We also offer the service of translating official documents such as birth certificates, marriage certificates and death certificates from Spanish to French and English. We help in acquiring the necessary documents in order to obtain a: social security number, health card, bank account, drivers license, necessary requisites to rent an apartment, and registering with…
The Maria de Moreno International Foundation, Montreal – Canada compromised with the needs of our community, volunteered at the community center Mission Bon Accueil this past 15th of December 2016. The tasks included the identification, classification, and care of items offered at the Mission Bon Accueil’s boutique; a boutique aimed for persons in need and of low incomes. The foundation volunteered to highlight the value that the foundation gives to helping and caring for others in order benefit the community.
The Foundation celebrated on the 3rd of December 2016 the International Volunteer’s Day. Present were 61 volunteers who were vital in fulfilling all the different foundation activities with great success for the year 2016. During the event, our volunteers were recognized for their invaluable work and efforts by providing them with a musical show and fun activities such as raffles in all age and gender categories, which they enjoyed greatly. Each volunteer was served a dinner were given each a gift as a token of our gratitude.
The Foundation on the 26th of November 2016 in the city Montreal Canada, carried out the last day of the English, French and Spanish Courses, in the office of the foundation in Montreal. This day was to celebrate the volunteer teachers for the time and love dedicated to their students throughout this fall session, and to also recognize the improvement of the students in the English language. With these language courses the Foundation benefits about 52 people of different nationalities. The English courses benefited 27 Spanish and French speaking students. The course was given every Saturday in 3 different levels: Basic, Intermediate and Advances. The teachers with vast experience teaching English taught the course. For the 5th consecutive year, the Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation organized One Day For Kids event on Sunday, August 14th, this year in the city of Montreal, Quebec where 110 children have benefited from school kits, prizes, piñatas, gifts and snacks. It was a day full of fun activities where kids between 0-12 years old participated in nursery rhymes and zumba children; they also enjoyed various musical presentations and the play “No Bullying or School Harassment” in charge of the young volunteers of the Foundation, from whom they learned values such as respect, tolerance and solidarity. Specially with the help of our volunteers, sponsors and donors, they contributed to a wonderful family day full of joy and apprenticeships for our kids. The Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation celebrated “Senior’s Day” in the city of Montreal – Canada. More than 45 people attended to celebrated and participated in wonderful activities such as, zumba classes, thematic photography sessions, conferences about healthy habits and nutrition, etc. It was a Hawaiian event full of tropical beverages and variety of fruits which made the day colorful and full of happiness. The foundations gave sport kits, Hawaiian frames, gifts and many more surprises to the participants. Definitely the celebration showed that age is just a number.
