My New Family: transforming lives by bringing hope and happiness
MY NEW FAMILY
This is an educational sponsorship program through which children and young people who lack the basic essentials to complete their basic education can enjoy the necessary conditions for the effective continuation and development of their school cycle.
As such, children from the five schools built and three refurbished by the Foundation receive educational sponsorship that provides benefits such as an annual school supply kit, nutritional plans, health promotion and disease prevention days, among others.
Through this work, the Foundation contributes to reducing school dropouts by ensuring a values-based education process that fosters a strong cultural identity, as well as strengthening the emotional and social intelligence of the community.
ACTIVITIES
Through playful-pedagogical activities that create meaningful experiences for reflection and learning for the entire educational community, the program seeks to contribute to students’ educational process without neglecting the importance of shaping them as upstanding citizens. For this reason, work is carried out directly with children, their families, and teachers through a strategy called Human Development and Values, which strengthens valuable and significant aspects of human beings such as self-esteem, didactics, social skills, values, and virtues.
Each child enrolled in the program receives the following benefits:
- School Supplies: school kits and daily and sports uniforms.
- Nutrition: breakfast or snacks during school hours.
- Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Days: comprehensive medical diagnostic services.
- Educational Quality: strengthening teaching and learning strategies, and training in human development and values for teachers, parents, and students.
The children benefiting from this program report greater motivation to continue their studies due to the support and resources provided.
PROGRAM ACHIEVEMENTS
In some of the beneficiary communities, active participation from parents and teachers has increased in the implementation stages (installation, familiarisation, ownership, management, and autonomy) of the projects.
This has been made possible due to experiential meetings developed under the Human Development and Values strategy, aimed at strengthening self-esteem, teaching methods, social skills, values, and virtues within the community, especially among children.
The application of this strategy has enabled beneficiaries to develop virtuous attitudes and behaviours that promote better coexistence and harmonious relationships among various stakeholders within the educational community.
Nutritional Plan
Children are provided with a comprehensive and well-rounded nutritional plan to address food deficiencies. Some cases revealed that children attended school poorly nourished or, in extreme instances, without having eaten at all. This posed risks to their health, intellectual capacities, and affected their attention and concentration. To address this, balanced breakfasts or snacks are provided daily during school hours.
